In 2014, The Board of Trustees approved the multipurpose expansion of the existing temple structure. The expanded area would incorporate the north and south terraces on the sanctum level and a new build on the south side of the temple and include the following:

  • Elevator access with expanded lobby area, shoe rooms and dress changing area
  • Classrooms for BalVihar with contemporary audiovisual aids
  • Larger Library
  • Covered carport for Vahana poojas in extreme weather
  • Gift shop.
  • Indoor yagashala for weddings and yagnas with expanded seating capability
  • Covered walkway for outdoor Parikrama

Feasibility study for the project was started in 2014 and completed. Kline Swinney Associates from Nashville have
been hired as the architects.

The proposed budget for the expansion would be $3.5 million and expected date of completion is Spring of 2017. The membership of the Sri Ganesha temple Nashville hopes to raise the funds through your generous contribution for this project. This is a unique opportunity to become a part of the temple history and support the educational, cultural and religious needs of the community for today and generations to come.

Phase I (2009 – 2010) included site development and new parking lot construction on the north side of the temple at a cost of 2.48 Million Dollars.

Phase II (2011-2013) consisted of completing Priest quarters housing six condo units at the cost of 1.07 million dollars.

Phase III of the expansion project would’ve included a multipurpose building consisting classrooms, library, meeting spaces and kitchen.

Phase III of the expansion project was delayed for several reasons. Not only did the Board of Trustees have the job of putting the temple back on stable financial grounds, but also had to examine the concerns raised by the congregation regarding constructing a building with limited weekend usage and high maintenance costs. During the same time, the need for additional improvements in the main temple building became evident.

Donations can be made via check, cash or credit card at the temple. Donations can also be made by mail or on our website at ganeshatempletn.org for the ‘Expansion fund’. Pledges made for this purpose are payable over five years.
